The attached letter is from Bishop Lewis announcing the closure of churches in our district for the next 30 days! This will take us through the month of April. The Bishop’s office will revisit the closure policy on or about April 23rd to let us know what will happen then. Barry asked me to remind everyone to get in touch with him if you need him for anything. Please practice your social distancing (6 feet apart) and stay safe. We are in this together and together with God’s help we will get through it.
Good morning everyone! Below is a link to Barry’s Sermon for this morning!

Bishop Sharma D. Lewis has issued an invitation to the Virginia Conference to join her in praying at noon every day a prayer she has provided. “Let us invoke the power of the Great Physician to do a mighty work in eradicating this disease all over the world,” she writes. We have received word from the Bishop that we are to continue the closing of services (i.e. Worship and Sunday School) through March 29th! Nor are we supposed to have any meetings of more than 10 people so our meetings will continue to be cancelled as well. Pastor Barry would like to reiterate: if he can do anything for anybody, please call him at the parsonage – (540) 625-2539.
While I haven’t been able to confirm this online anywhere, I have been asked to share this with you. For parents who can’t find formula in stores. Word has it that you can call the number on the back of a formula can and they will send you a case of formula during this pandemic time.
I miss you already. It can be a very frustrating time when we can’t have church. As you probably know our bishop, cooperating with our governor, has canceled worship services and other activities in all United Methodist Churches until at least the 22nd of March.
However, I want you to know that if you need anything—from spiritual support to the running of an errand—please call me. As long as I don’t have any symptoms (and I surely hope I won’t have) I’ll be glad to help in any way I can. Please call me at the parsonage (540) 625-2539.
Let’s all be in prayer for our people and for our nation in this very difficult time.
In his love,
For anyone who was planning to attend – please note the March 22 Laity Protocol Presentation has also been cancelled. This was posted by the The Rappahannock River District of the United Methodist Church on their Facebook Page 5 hours ago!
PLEASE NOTE: AS PER THE MESSAGE FROM THE DISTRICT – ALL SERVICES (I.E. WORSHIP AND SUNDAY SCHOOL) AND SPECIAL GATHERINGS (I.E. MEETINGS ETC.) AT FLETCHER’S CHAPEL UMC WILL BE CANCELLED AS OF TODAY THROUGH MARCH 22nd! SEE OUR FACEBOOK PAGE TO READ THE LETTER FROM THE DISTRICT. PLEASE HAVE A BLESSED DAY AND STAY SAFE!
